June 2012

The night at Marrickville Bowling Club, with my 6 piece Good Rockin’ Band was a great success. Thanks to all those on my email list for coming along. And many thanks to Stormy Monday on 2MBSFM for putting on these monthly live music nights. It was nice to see familiar faces and some new at the event and to see so many having a good time getting into the dancing. I will be putting on some more Good Rockin’ dance nights in the future featuring mainly rhythm & blues of the 1950s with spotlight on New Orleans R&B.

Some highlights for June will be Dr. Don’s Double Dose at
The Vault in Windsor on Saturday 23 June. It‘s a great restaurant and music venue. For those who live further away from Windsor, it would make a great weekend if you stayed overnight, as historic Windsor is a lovely place to spend a Sunday. One attraction is the Windsor Craft Markets on Sunday in the George St mall.

Double Dose return to
Crossroads Hotel for those south west of Sydney, 1 to 4 pm on June 10th. In the courtyard if the weather is fine.

For those in the Illawarra, I return to one of the best run restaurants I have seen. The
Seabreeze Dining in Kiama on Fri 8th June. Make sure you make a booking. Details on gig page for June 2012.

Also Big Wheel will be performing at the
Avalon Winter Festival on Sunday 24 June at 12 noon.

Jim Conway’s Big Wheel are recording their 3rd studio CD in July this year. Myself, with Jim and the other members of the band are currently writing and rehearsing for this new album.

So performances north, south, east (Cosmopolitan Cafe, Double Bay) and west this month. I hope to see you at one of my gigs this month.

Yours in blues
Don
